Derived measures are measures that can be calculated from other measures. You can create a derived measure from existing measures by applying mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The derived metrics can be used on any of the reports of the same data sources.
On the Reporting Objects pane, click the Add Derived Measure icon.
The following screen is displayed. Start adding objects to build an expression for the new measure. To add objects, double-click on the respective objects from the left pane. Do not drag and drop the objects from the left panel.
The selected objects will be displayed in brackets under the Formula section. Mathematical operations can be performed on that metrics.
After defining the formula, click Validate to confirm that your expression does not contain any errors. If there are no errors, click SAVE.
A new pop-up window will open where you can name your derived measure. When giving your derived measure a name, use fewer than 60 characters in the name and pick the format option that meets your needs.
Note: Use the Automatic Format Option if you do not know which option to choose.
Your derived measure is now available at the bottom of the objects column and can be used on any report within the same data source.
If you need to edit the measure after you have created it, simply click the Action icon next to the name of the derived measure.
